Scope

The Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal has been originally founded as a proceedings of papers presented at Geoinformatics FCE CTU seminar (2006). Since year 2008, the journal is not limited just for purpose of the Geoinformatics seminar and so all authors are welcome to submit their contributions relevant for the journal scope.

The Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal aims to publish theoretical, empirical, and applied research papers in geoinformatics and all geosciences close to computer processing. The journal's main emphasis is on design, implementation and use of open source geographical software, especially in areas of:

  • Open source Geographic Information System (GIS) and all relevant tools,
  • Web Map Services, Map servers and all sorts of Internet publishing of geographic data,
  • Computer based cartography,
  • Education in GIS systems,
  • Legislation (e.g. EU legislation in geographic data publishing and use).

The geographical reference in the journal's name merely signifies that it is an initiative of Czech scholars, and the acronym FCE CTU refers to Faculty of Civil Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague. The journal is organized in cooperation with Faculty of Information Technology of Brno University of Technology and other universities within Czech republic.

In addition to publishing full papers, Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal allows any short notes, commentaries, and surveys. We will ensure a rigorous, fair and prompt refereeing process.

Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal is published twice a year and only in electronic form; articles are available as open access and the journal encourages young researchers to submit their work.
