Scope
The Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal has been founded as a proceedings of papers presented at Geoinformatics FCE CTU seminar. Since year 2008, the journal is not limited just for purpose of the Geoinformatics seminar and so all authors are welcome to submit their contributions relevant for the journal scope.
The Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal aims to publish theoretical, empirical, and applied research papers in geoinformatics and all geosciences close to computer processing. The journal's main emphasis is on design, implementation and use of open source geographical software, especially in areas of:
- Open source Geographic Information System (GIS) and all relevant tools,
- Web Map Services, Map servers and all sorts of Internet publishing of geographic data,
- Computer based cartography,
- Education in GIS systems,
- Legislation (e.g. EU legislation in geographic data publishing and use).
The geographical reference in the journal's name merely signifies that it is an initiative of Czech scholars, and the acronym FCE CTU refers to Faculty of Civil Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague. The journal is organized in cooperation with Faculty of Information Technology of Brno University of Technology and other universities within Czech republic.
In addition to publishing full papers, Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal allows any short notes, commentaries, and surveys. We will ensure a rigorous, fair and prompt refereeing process.
Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal is published once a year and only in electronic form; articles are currently available as open access and the journal encourages young researchers to submit their work.
Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice
The Geoinformatics FCE CTU journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. All authors submitting their works to the Geoinformatics FCE CTU journal for publication as original articles attest that the submitted works represent their authors’ contributions and have not been copied or plagiarized in whole or in part from other works. The authors acknowledge that they have disclosed all and any actual or potential conflicts of interest with their work or partial benefits associated with it. In the same manner, the Geoinformatics FCE CTU journal is committed to objective and fair blind review of the submitted for publication works and to prevent any actual or potential conflict of interests between the editorial and review personnel and the reviewed material. Any departures from the above-defined rules should be reported directly to the Editor-in-Chief, who is unequivocally committed to providing swift resolutions to any of such a type of problems.

Instruction for authors
The Geoinformatics FCE CTU Journal publishes only papers written in English. We expect that the papers submitted to Geoinformatics FCE CTU are not being reviewed in any other journal or conference. We accept papers previously published in conference proceedings, if they are significantly extended.
- For submit your manuscripts contact geoinformatics@fsv.cvut.cz. Submission is finished when the authors receive a confirmation e-mail.
- Submitted manuscripts should not contain more than 30 typeset pages. Authors are encouraged to enclose any sort of documents in appendices.
- Submit your manuscripts for review purpose in PDF format.
- Submit your final papers in LaTeX source files (highly preferred), wiki format (see bellow) or in plain text.
- The journal does not specify strong text formating rules, the typesetting is defined by gifce.cls class. We expect the authors to use standard Latex constructions (sections, subsections, figure, etc.)
- To make the final typesetting easy, we kindly ask authors to:
- put all tables in separate Latex files,
- export all figures to PNG or EPS format.
- Or submit your manuscripts for review purpose in wiki format (see instructions for authors).
- Acknowledgements should be as brief as possible. Any grant that requires acknowledgement should be mentioned. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.
The journal editors reserve their right to reject a paper which does not fit scope of the journal or which does not respect the "Instruction for authors". This right also include the right to do so without explaining reasons.
